What is your professional background and what does your job involve ?
After earning a high school diploma in Agronomy and Life Sciences, I went on to complete a BTSA (Advanced Technician Certificate) in Aquaculture, followed by a
Bachelor’s degree in Inland Aquaculture and Aquariology. Today, I work as an animal keeper. My job consists of ensuring the daily well-being of all the animals on site. This, of course, includes feeding, providing care, maintaining and cleaning enclosures, but also creating enrichment activities to stimulate their natural
behaviors. We also take care of general site maintenance — from infrastructure to green spaces — to provide a pleasant environment for both the animals and our visitors.
What is your favorite place at the Parc du Thot ?
The terrace just outside the gift shop gives us a wide, elevated view of the entire site. Every morning, before starting my workday, I enjoy spending a quiet moment there, taking in the view of the animals in peace.
Can you share a fun anecdote ?
In 2019, just a few months after I started, I took part in my first ibex capture operation to trim their hooves. We use a large net to catch them without sedating them, which involves safely releasing the animal once it’s caught. But in the end… it was me who ended up tangled in the net !
