Take a step 20 000 years backwards…without leaving the Périgord ! Welcome to the Parc du Thot in Thonac next to Sarlat, a unique place where young and old travel to prehistoric
times, while exploring the fascinating relationship between mankind and animals.
Firstly, the Parc du Thot is a wildlife park going back in time where almost 70 animals cohabit, some of which lived alongside our ancestors : Tarpan horses, bisons, Przewalski horses, Highland bulls, deers, aurochs…and many more. A self-guided tour in the open air allows you to freely observe the animals with information panels that will help you understand their evolution and behavior.
Pursue your exploration in the museographic space, a real goldmine for understanding prehistoric times. Discover faithful reproductions of the panels of Lascaux, scenes from Cro-Magnon’s everyday life and immersive experiences (3D cinema and temporal mirror) to compare species of yesterday and today. An authentic time travel. The park offers various animations during the holidays just as the incredible experience of carer for a day.
